William was born in Rhode Island iin 1938. He did some acting in the 1960s and 1970s on the series "The Mod Squad, The Bob Newhart Show, and All in the Family. He started directing in the 1970s with The Bob Newhart Show and has directed episodes of Taxi, 13 episodes of Newhart, 27 episodes of Family Ties, many episodes of Phenom, The Boys Are Back, Champs, and Dharma & Greg. Will has also directed 32 episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond and 62 episodes of Reba.
