Sam Perry Gilligan "Sammy" Dorian is the son of John Dorian and Kim Briggs.

Sam was born at Sacred Heart Hospital. (My Hard Labor) He is named Sam after his grandfather and J.D.'s father Sam Dorian, Perry presumebly because it is the name of Dr.Cox (Perry Ulysses Cox), and Gilligan because Turk won a bet (the bet J.D. lost is unknown).

J.D., Elliot and Kim witnessed the birth. Although J.D. and Kim are no longer a couple and were fighting during the birth, J.D. and Dr. Cox believes that the child will be brought up alright. He also tilts his head when daydreaming, much like his father. Dr. Cox trained his son, Jack, to make fun of Sam which annoys J.D. (My ABC's)

Sam is raised by both J.D. and Kim. J.D. decided that he would move closer to Kim so Sam wouldn't have a "part time dad". (My Cuz) J.D. also took a job at a closer hospital so he would be more available. (My Chief Concern)

After J.D.'s final shift at Sacred Heart, his possible future is shown across a banner as a figment of his imagination. On his banner, he can see also Sam's future, where Isabella Turk and Sam announce to Turk and J.D. that they are engaged. (My Finale)
