Rex is an intern at Sacred Heart and lost his finger when trying to give a patient medicine by stuffing it into her mouth as J.D. recommended. J.D. once wanted to cut his tie off but accidentally opened his chest with a circular saw. For that, Rex was the first intern to get Ketchup on his burger. (My Rite of Passage)
Dr. Cox reacts against the other interns' praise of the show House, saying that "...doctors damn sure don't look like models, they look like Rex." In the same episode, Dr. Cox also shaves off one of Rex's sideburns because he had a custom license plate that said "Party Doc." (My House)
J.D. and Turk later convinced Rex to follow Hooch around the hospital all day, not knowing Hooch is crazy. There is a strong possibility that Hooch took Rex hostage. (My Growing Pains)
