Mr. Moran was randomly assigned to Elliot, but he kept giving her compliments on how pretty she looked. This helped her self esteem, and she was able to vent about her father and J.D.. When Mr. Moran fell into a medical crash, Elliot ran to him room, hoping to have a "I'm a Doctor" moment without any supervision. J.D. let her pass him, but Mr. Moran ended up dying anyway.
