When Mr. Lawton was admitted, his doctor J.D. assumed it was just a heart valve problem, a diagnosis that had been made the last time he was at the hospital. Denise ordered a painful and intrusive endoscopy for him, because she thought he might have something else. J.D. was upset she ordered the procedure because he didn't want Mr. Lawton to have to endure unnecessary pain, but ultimately the test revealed he had stomach cancer. ("My Cookie Pants")
