Martin was born in Troy, Michigan and attended Athens High School. He moved to LA and got many jobs as an actor and stuntman. Martin is best known for his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, but has also appeared in the films Death to Smoochy, Men in Black II, Van Helsing, Feast 2, and Hancock. Martin has appeared as himself in many episodes of Little People, Big World, and has acted in episodes of the television series Just Shoot Me and CSI.

Martin has many upcoming projects, including the film he is producing In the Gray, and the films Feast 3, Foodfight!, American High School, Bloodshot, All's Faire in Love, 1066, and has been cast in the title roll for the film Apollo Thorne.
