Mandy, full name Amanda, was born in New Hampshire in the April of 1984 to an airline pilot a former news reporter. She learned that she wanted to be in show business from a very young age and became known for her singing. At 15, her first record "So Real" was released. Her first tour was with the Backstreet Boys. She prides herself for not having to "show her midriff" to sell records.

Her acting career began in 1996 when she starred in the film Street Rats. Five years later she had a role in the film The Princess Diaries, and the next year was the lead in the film A Walk to Remember which made her a well known actress. Over the next several years, Mandy starred in the films Try Seventeen, How to Deal, Chasing Liberty, Saved!, and Racing Stripes. Her most recent roles were in the comedy License to Wed and a cameo in an episode of How I Met Your Mother.
