Lee Thompson Young was born in South Carolina. When he was ten, he portrayed Dr. Martin Luther King in a play called "A Night of Stars and Dreams". After high school, Lee attended the Professional Performing Arts High School in New York City.
In 1999, Lee appeared in a small film called Johnny Tsunami. He then was cast in the series The Famous Jett Jackson as Jett Jackson which ran for 46 episodes. Lee later held recurring roles in the series The Guardian, South Beach, and Smallville. Lee has also appeared in episodes of Jake 2.0, Kevin Hill, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. On the big screen, Lee can be seen in the films Friday Night Lights, Akeelah and the Bee, The Hills Have Eyes 2, Mano, and Five Year Plan.
Lee has also written an episode for the series The Famous Jett Jackson and the screenplay for the film Mano.
