Synopsis[]

Turk and Marco[]

Carla's brother Marco is coming to town and J.D. is curious why Marco and Turk have an uneasy relationship. Turk explains that he accidentally mistook Marco for a valet at Marco and Carla's mother's funeral and they haven't gotten along since. Turk is not able to apologize effectively because Marco only speaks Spanish.

Turk becomes frustrated because Marco and Carla constantly speak Spanish around him. In English, Marco chews out Turk for never learning Spanish, despite claiming to love Carla. Turk tries to use Marco's English as ammunition against Marco, but in the end both look foolish to Carla for their petty argument.

Dr. Kelso and Dr. Cox[]

Dr. Cox, the new resident director, want the residents to stop goofing off all the time. Dr. Kelso says that all doctors need to concentrate equally on all patients, but Dr. Cox says to concentrate on one patient, Mrs. Barto. Dr. Kelso tells the residents that the reason why Dr. Cox says to only concentrate on one patient is because he says the opposite that he does.

J.D. and Danni[]

J.D. is having problems getting over Elliot because she is always around. Sean calls while Elliot and J.D. are on call, handing the phone to J.D. to say hello, but J.D. just hangs up. In the elevator, J.D. meets an attractive woman named Danni. She tells him a lousy story, but then explains that she has an inner monologue. Later in the hospital, she tells him she has recently ended her relationship and asks him to grab coffee. He declines because Elliot needs a backrub. He realizes his mistake getting fixated on Elliot and looks for Danni, who is having dinner with her sister. He asks her out for two cups of coffee and pie, and she says yes. He was very happy about finding a girl, but just at that moment Jordan joins them, revealing that Danni and Jordan are sisters.

Yeah... then I remembered that you've been here over ten years, and there's not a single disciple of yours to be found. And you know why?

Trivia[]

Goofs

  • Marco punches Turk in the left eye, but Turk gets a black eye on his right eye.
  • When J.D. is talking to Danni at the cafeteria, you can see a doctor sitting at a table behind J.D.. When a man walks behind this doctor and tips him on his shoulders, he turns around. In the next shot with J.D. you can see it again.
  • When Carla asks Marko in Spanish "So when I was in high school, you heard me talking to my friends about going on the pill?", she incorrectly says "high school" instead of "colegio". However, this might be her trying to be correct, as she went to an american "high school", not a dominican "colegio".
  • After losing at Pac-Man, Marco yells "coño", which literally translates to a vulgar version of "vagina" but is used similarly in the Dominican as the English equivalent of "damn it".
  • Donald Faison's microphone wire is visible next to his tie in the scene at the funeral.

Continuity

  • In the episode "My Hero" it is revealed that J.D.'s mother's maiden name was Turner, but he has a Nana Hobbs (who is an eensy bit racist.) She could be an aunt or have kept her maiden name of "Hobbs".
  • In this episode, Carla talks about moving to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic. However in "My Identity Crisis" Turk says that she has never been to the "homeland" and is from Chicago.
  • Turk eventually learns Spanish for Carla in Season Seven's "My Bad Too".
