Josh was admitted to Sacred Heart by his mother and father. Dr. Cox made a prediction based on Josh's blood count that he had leukemia. When the tests confirmed this, Josh's parents told Dr. Cox that they did not want their son to know about his disease. This bothered Dr. Cox, who eventually told Josh himself. Josh's parents were very upset and threatened legal action, but Josh revealed that he knew there was something wrong based on how his parents were acting. The Winstons decided not to sue, but Cox felt bad for partially taking away Josh's childhood. ("My Growing Pains")
