Dr. Bailey was a patient at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Dr. Bailey and three other doctors, Dr. Douglas, Dr. Franklyn, and Dr. Lamar were at a conference together and all contracted Legionnaires' Pneumonia. They all shared a room at Sacred Heart, and J.D. was an intern assigned to them. They frightened him with stories of doctors who had gotten sick because of patients, and had a good laugh when J.D. left frightened. However, when J.D. admitted to Elliot that he was afraid of getting sick from a patient, he lost the respect of Dr. Bailey.
Dr. Bailey was later revealed to have been fired from Sacred Heart for (presumably) sexually harassing a patient.
