After Private Brian Dancer received his medical and surgical attention, he still couldn't perform some basic motor and mental functions. Sacred Heart's physical therapist, Anne Chase, was called in to help. She helped Brian set the goal of being able to write his name in one month's time. As he started to feel like he was making no progress, J.D. promised that he would ask Anne out if Brian remained in therapy. J.D. was too afraid to ask her, so he just lied to Brian. When he finally asked Anne he was rejected and he confessed everything to Brian, who wasn't upset. Brian was proud of himself because shortly after he could write his own name.
